10 Summer Self-Care Tips

1. Take Yourself on Regular Self-Care Vacations

Regular vacations are important – even if it’s just a day trip to a nearby town.

Taking some time for yourself can make all the difference. And don’t forget, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a good time. Sometimes the simplest things are the most enjoyable.

2. Exercise Outdoors

Being active outdoors is a great way to stay healthy and fit and is a great form of self-care.

3. Spend Time with Friends and Family

Do yourself a favor and spend time with people who make you happy.

Whether it’s catching up with an old friend or spending time with family, being around people who make you feel good is never a waste of time.

Get together for a summer barbeque or connect over the phone even if it’s just for a brief conversation.

4. Practice Summer Self-Care by Eating Healthy Foods

Junk food may be tempting, but it’s not doing your body any favors. Eating healthy foods that make you feel good is a much better choice for your overall health and well-being.

Visit a local farmers market and enjoy the delicious seasonal produce they have to offer. There is nothing better than fresh produce from a local market!

5. Get Adequate Sleep Every Night

Getting enough sleep each night is important for your health. Make sure to get at least eight hours of sleep each night to feel well-rested and refreshed.

A good night’s sleep will help you to focus during the day and be more productive.

Sleep with a window open on cooler summer nights and enjoy the fresh breeze.

6. Staying Hydrated Is a Vital Summer Self-Care Tip

Drink plenty of water throughout the day.  Keep a water bottle or tall glass handy all day as a reminder to keep drinking.

Not only will it keep you hydrated, but it can also help improve your skin, blast toxins from your body, and more.

If you are not a water lover, try adding some fruit to your water giving it an even more delicious flavor. You can drop small pieces of your favorite fruit directly into your water or use a water pitcher with a diffuser. This way you will have delicious cold water ready for you to drink at any time.

7. Practice Deep Breathing Exercises or Meditation

Deep breathing exercises and meditation are two great ways to reduce stress levels and practice self-care this summer.

By taking slow, deep breaths and focusing on your breath, you can easily calm yourself down and bring your stress levels down.

If you’re looking for a more long-term solution, meditation can be a great way to manage stress

Try listening to calming music while you practice deep breathing.

8. Relaxing Outdoors Might Be My Favorite Summer Self-Care Tip

Instead of staying indoors to relax and unwind, sit outside in a comfortable lounge chair or hammock

Read a book or listen to your favorite podcast while enjoying the outdoors.  Or just simply sit and listen to the birds chirping as well as the other beautiful sounds of nature.

9. Plant A Garden to Nurture as Part of Your Summer Self-Care

You don’t need to plant a huge garden, start small so it’s manageable. Keep in mind this is meant to provide self-care, not to add a ton of work to your already busy schedule.

Plant your favorite flowers, vegetables, or both, and watch them grow.  It is very fulfilling to watch a small plant or seed bloom into something beautiful knowing that you played a part in the process by providing TLC.

10. Take Time for Your Mental Health

Surround yourself with positivity.  Keep company with the people who lift you up.  Try to remain positive even through difficult times.  Use affirmation cards to promote positivity.

Journaling is a wonderful way to rid your mind of negative thoughts.  It can also help you unwind as you sit quietly and write.  This is meant to be a time of reflection and relaxation.   Light a candle and grab your favorite feel-good beverage to set the scene for some much-deserved summer self-care.

Conclusion

Summer is a great time to relax and recharge, but it can also be a time when our healthy routines go out the window. These self-care tips will help you stay on track so you can enjoy your summer without sacrificing your overall well-being.
